Originally, its inhabitants lived to the rhythm of fishing trips, the main source of local wealth, before Étretat and its sea baths became fashionable thanks to the novelist and journalist Alphonse Karr from 1843 onwards. A veritable Romantic theater overlooking the English Channel, Étretat has since attracted numerous artists who succumb to the charm of the setting and find inspiration here. And we understand!
The magic of these cliffs, which seem to have been sculpted by nature, is instantly apparent, impressing every visitor as soon as the hollow needle comes into view.
