In the footsteps of our heritage

Neufchâtel-en-Bray’s architecture is marked by its history, notably thechurch of Notre-Dame, a medieval jewel rebuilt after the bombardments of 1940. Listed as a historic monument, it houses relics of Saint Clotilde and a portal dating back to the 15th century.

Continue your exploration at the Musée Mathon-Durand, housed in a 16th-century half-timbered house. Here you’ll discover varied collections ranging from prehistory to the early 20th century. In the basement, an area is dedicated to Neufchâtel, Normandy’s oldest PDO cheese (our favorite corner!).

 Nature and castles nearby

A few pedal strokes will take you to the Château de Mesnières-en-Bray, a Renaissance masterpiece surrounded by gardens designed by Le Nôtre. Listed as a Monument Historique, this impressive site boasts a peacock’s-tail staircase and richly decorated rooms.

Nearby, the Ferme de Bray in Sommery plunges you into the rural history of the Pays de Bray. The restored mill, bread oven, wine press and cheese dairy bear witness to the skills of bygone days. The flower-filled grounds and collection of antique tools provide an enchanting backdrop, much sought-after for film shoots.
